Cancer Kills - See What To Eat To Lower Your Risk And Stay Protected

There are many types of cancers and other serious diseases that can be controlled by building a perfect diet. You should build your diet around many antioxidant-rich vegetables and fruits, whole grains, nuts, beans, and healthy fats. In addition to this, you must control the rate at which you consume fried and processed foods, refined carbs, sugars and unhealthy fats.

Lower your cancer risk with antioxidants
Plant-based foods have nutrients that are known to boost the immune system. They are called antioxidants and they help to fight against cancer cells thereby prevent their growth. Eating fruits will help reduce stomach and lung cancer. Also, consuming vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, carrots, squash, and others containing carotenoids may help reduce the risk of pharynx, lung, mouth, and larynx cancers.

Protect yourself against stomach and esophageal cancer by eating non-starchy vegetables like spinach, broccoli, and beans. Foods that are high in vitamin C such as bell peppers, peas, berries, oranges and dark leafy greens too help protect the risk of esophageal cancer. Protect yourself from prostate cancer by eating foods that are high in lycopene like watermelon, guava and tomatoes.

Fill up on fiber
Also known as roughage or bulk, you can get fiber from whole grains and vegetables; they help to keep your digestive tract healthy by cleaning it for you. Eating fiber helps to prevent colorectal cancer and other related digestive system cancers such as mouth, stomach and pharynx cancers.

Choose healthy fats
Different types of cancers are related to the consumption of foods that are high in fat. However, there are healthy fats that can actually protect you against cancer. Avoid eating partially hydrogenated oil (or trans fat) that are used in different packaged and fried foods like pie crusts, pizza dough, crackers, cookies, cakes, hard taco shells, muffins, French fries, and fried chicken.
Reduce your consumption of saturated fat from dairy and red meat to not more than 10% of your daily calorie intake. Add more unsaturated fats to your diet. Unsaturated fats from olive oil, fish, avocados and nuts are very good for cancer prevention. Lastly, Omega-3 fatty acids that are found in flaxseeds, tuna and salmon can help in improving brain and heart health and also fight inflammation.

Reduce your sugar and refined carbs intake
Eating refined carbs lead to a sudden increase in the blood sugar level and this has pose up to 88% greater risk of prostate cancer in addition to other serious health problems. Instead of taking sweetened cereals, pasta, sugary soft drinks, white bread, and other processed foods such as pizza, you should go for unrefined whole grains such as multi grain or whole wheat bread, bran cereal, oatmeal, brown rice, barley, quinoa, and non-starchy vegetables. They are very effective in reducing your risk for prostate and colorectal cancer.

Limit processed and red meat
Eating processed meats like hotdogs, pepperoni, bacon, sausages, and salami have been linked to increase risk of cancer. The consumption of up to 50 grams of processed meat increases your chances of getting colorectal cancer by up to 20%. This risk is mainly due to different preservatives (such as nitrate preservative) that are used in processing the meat. There are also other diseases that are linked to the consumption of red meat.
To reduce the risk of cancer while eating meat, you should eat protein from meat sources such as eggs, nuts, fish, chicken, and soy.
